On February 8, 2009 the following people were recognized for a Celebration 2010 Community Sports Heroes Awards and presented with medals by MPP Lisa MacLeod.
Linda Wilson was recognized for 23 years of volunteering as a team captain and member of the executive of the Glen Cairn Ladies Softball League.
Dave Taylor was nominated for his excellence as a hockey coach with the Kanata Minor Hockey House League where he has been a head coach and organizer for many years.
Rob Nino was nominated for his coaching excellence in both the Kanata Minor Hockey and with the Kanata Little League associations. In nominating Rob, Allan Hubley President of the Glen Cairn Community Association said "We are all very proud of Rob for enhancing the quality of our community by sharing his passion and energy for sports and consider him a caring community ambassador."
